Nazareth House (former convent)

The following is an extract from W H Blanch (1877) Ye Parish of Camerwell and describes the life of aged and infirm paupers housed in the former convent building before the Gordon Road Workhouse was built in its grounds.  The soon to be built workhouse is alluded to in a note at the foot of the page "the bare mention of which has alarmed the neighbourhood."
